I’m Nabeel, a highly motivated and hard-working individual currently studying Medicine at the University of Manchester. Throughout my 2 years experience as a tutor, and in other employed and voluntary roles, I have strengthened my skills by working and communicating with children and adults from all walks of life. It would be a pleasure to pass on both my knowledge and work ethic to my students, enabling them to achieve their full potential. During my GCSE studies at a grammar school, I obtained Grade 9 in 8 subjects, including Biology, Maths and Chemistry. I also obtained Grade 8 in 3 subjects, including English Literature and Language. Hi! I am a third-year engineering student at the University of Kent. I plan on tutoring in my free time while completing the final year of my bachelor's degree. My degree has a heavy focus on maths and physics, and I have to do a lot of studying, so I understand the struggle. Previous experience in tutoring from secondary school. Currently a final year Engineering student at the University of Kent, hoping to complete my bachelor's in electronic and computer engineering with a year in industry and with honours. I completed my internship at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Switzerland, where I worked for a year and a half. Previously, I have completed 10 GCSEs and 3 A levels, where I tutored younger students during the last couple years of my seven years at Sir Joseph Williams Secondary school.

I am currently in my final year studying medicine. I’m a dedicated tutor committed to making learning approachable, engaging, and tailored to each student’s unique style. As a student myself, I understand how challenging learning can feel so my goal is to make learning easier and help students feel more prepared and motivated. I completed my GCSEs at Bourne Grammar School, achieving excellent results that reflected my dedication to academic success. After that, I went on to complete my A-levels at The King's (The Cathedral) School. I’m now in my final year of medical school, continuing to build on my passion for medicine, patient care and personal development.

~ Welcome to Ms. A. L River's Classes ~ It is a pleasure to have you here on this journey! I cannot wait to meet your sproutlings (and establishing trees), continuing the process of discovering and nurturing their passions with them. I have six years experience of guiding and teaching students of various ages. All lessons are preplanned, with the student's interests and passions intentionally worked into the teaching. TEACHING TOOLS: * Screen sharing facilities, * co-writing, including mind-mapping and more * illustrations * key stage-relevant worksheets, * quizzes / past exam questions (familiar with AQA, OCR, WJEC, Pearsons/Edexcel) * recorded videos * thought provoking, practical application in the world relevant to the student WHO I WORK WITH: Pupils desiring improvement in their subjects (who may not yet know they will enjoy the process!) Particularly: - those who may find typical lessons less engaging of their focus, and enjoy a more interactive, magical style of teaching. - those who desire continuous encouragement, support, and prefer experimentation with various techniques & styles of teaching - those who desire more effort and time to build a trusting connection with their tutor - those who need fun as part of their learning experience (everyone!) I prefer to work with one pupil on a number of subjects rather than one, as subjects can tie-in and feed into one another in explaining the world through a multi-disciplinary lens. My Plan: Building ongoing connection and tailoring my sessions to your child's/ your specific learning style and/or needs. This part is integral to the learning process, and our first session will ensure an in-depth understanding of the student's most aligned learning style. What is Key Stage 1?
Key Stage 1 (KS1) is the name given to Year 1 and Year 2 at primary schools, when pupils are aged between 5 and 7. It sets out which subjects must be taught as part of the national curriculum, which is followed by state schools.
Your child may be tested on what they have learned at the end of KS1. These assessments are known as SATs (which stands for ‘Standardised Assessment Tests’). They are not pass/fail tests but simply provide an indication of your child’s progress. It is not compulsory for schools to take the SATs in KS1.
What are the main subjects studied at Key Stage 1?
The KS1 curriculum is designed to introduce children to the core subjects they will learn throughout their school career.
The subjects are:
Religious Education (RE) is also taught, but parents can choose for their children to opt out of some or all the lessons. Schools usually also teach Personal, Social and Health Dducation (PSHE), citizenship and modern foreign languages.
How is Key Stage 1 assessed?
Children undertake a phonics screening check at the end of Year 1, which evaluates their reading and pronunciation skills.
Schools who do not take the SATs will use their own assessment systems to track the progress children in their school are making.
If your school takes the SATs, the subjects are:
The focus of Key Stage 1
KS1 is where a child begins to develop their skills and understanding in the key subjects taught in the curriculum.
Speaking, reading and writing are considered core skills as mastery of the English language is central to developing an understanding in all subjects.
In KS1 maths, children to begin to understand mathematical language, understand the fundamentals and begin to solve problems by applying this knowledge.
In addition, teaching children about healthy habits and different belief systems can help them become well-rounded individuals who understand the world around them.
How to choose a Key Stage 1 tutor
Children are all different and progress at different rates. Some will need extra support in building core skills or improving confidence, and others may need more of a challenge to keep them engaged. Either way, lessons need to be personalised to meet their individual needs.
It’s also important to choose a tutor with experience in the KS1 curriculum and who understands how important it is to make learning fun.
GoStudent’s tutors are highly qualified and offer an interactive and personalised learning experience. Our online sessions can be scheduled for a time that suits you, and you will receive regular updates on your child’s progress.
Tutoring will give your child a strong foundation in the key concepts will set them up to succeed in learning, not only at KS2 but throughout their school career.
