Hi there. James here, from South Africa. I taught in London in Walthamstow for my probationary year in 1991, and then in Johannesburg and Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa for a total of 21 years. I have taught Cambridge A Level History and England and South Africa's English and History curricula. I am also a published researcher, poet, and author. I enjoy cross-country running. I like NETFLIX mystery series. I regularly get out wilderness walking and cross country swimming. Since February 2025, I tutor English and Religious Studies for GoStudent. I battled with learning difficulties at school. However, I did very well after school, because I knew that English opens doors. So, I set goals. Then I achieved a B.A (1985) and a B. Ed (1996) degree, at Wits University in Johannesburg. I did a Masters Degree in Theology (Regent College, Vancouver, B.C., 2001) and a PhD in Church History (University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2016). I believe education is a lifelong journey. We master English every day for the rest of our lives. So I'm still learning as I tutor GCSE students, A Level students, and juniors, to reach their highest goals.

I am learning Swedish on my Duolingo app as I really enjoy learning new languages:) In my free time I enjoy making furniture pieces out of various woods. I like sports as well, especially racket sports like table tennis and tennis. I hold a PGCE qualification from Cornwall College Camborne. I also hold a Level 3 certificate in English and Math. I have a BA Hons on Fine Arts, a Level 2 Media Technician certificate and I did my A-Levels in German, Math, Biology and Art. I also hold a Level 2 certificate in Furniture Making.
