Hi, I’m Maja! (Pronounced Maya). I’m an astrophysics postgrad and a qualified secondary school science teacher. I’ve been through the full rollercoaster of science education, from fighting my way through a master’s degree and emerging with first-class honours, to teaching Year 9s on a Friday afternoon who would rather be anywhere else. Now I help GCSE and A-Level students believe what I already know: you can do this. My goal is to make science feel understandable, interesting, and even a bit fun. When I’m not teaching, you'll find me hanging upside down on an aerial hoop, or writing stories inspired by science and folklore. I went to secondary school in Hungary, where I was initially more interested in the humanities, until I fell in love with space and modern physics. For my leaving qualifications, I completed Advanced Exams in Mathematics and Physics and achieved an A. At university, I completed an integrated Master of Physics degree at the University of Southampton. My first three years focused on general physics (including lab work, mechanics, quantum physics, solid state physics, and wave physics) with a few modules of astronomy. During my master’s year, I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research at the Harvard & Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, where I studied the relationship between black holes and their host galaxies and wrote my thesis on this topic. I graduated with first-class honours in Astrophysics. After university, I felt drawn to education and wanted to help students grasp the beauty of science, so I completed a year of school-centred initial teacher training. I now hold a PGCE with QTS as a qualified science teacher.

Hi, I’m Darius, a 20-year-old student entering my third year of studying Physics at the University of Oxford. I achieved eleven grade 9s at GCSE and five A* grades at A-level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and my EPQ. Outside of Academics In my free time, I enjoy playing piano and have achieved Grade 8. I also like staying active by representing my college in football and challenging my younger brother to tennis matches (sometimes letting him win). I’m also a keen pool player and enjoy both the social side and the competitive edge it brings. Outside of that, I’m working on improving my chess skills, I’m a passionate Arsenal fan and I love watching a good film. I am a third year Physics student at the University of Oxford. Hi! I'm Tom, a recent graduate from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Physics! I am a huge fan of learning new skills and having fun whilst doing so... which is probably why I spent the last 5 months as a Ski Instructor in Canada! It's not only skiing I enjoy, though, as I also took up Gaelic Football at Uni and have played hockey, football and rugby for most of my life. I’m a 4th-year medical student who enjoys finding a balance between academics and creativity. When I’m not studying or working on university projects, I love going to the beach to surfing. I also enjoy being on stage and taking part in theatre productions, as acting allows me to express myself in a completely different way. In quieter moments, I like to dabble in a bit of art through painting and crafts, and more recently I’ve started learning how to crochet, which has been both fun and rewarding. I’m also an animal lover, especially cats in particular. I enjoy using my creativity most when it comes to teaching, finding ways to make learning easier and, just as importantly, enjoyable. I believe that learning is not just about absorbing knowledge but also about building a skill that you can use throughout life I attended West Buckland School from Year 7 to Year 13, between September 2016 and July 2022. In 2020, I completed 10 GCSEs with grades ranging from 6 to 9, including a 7 in English and Physics, an 8 in Mathematics, and a 9 in both Biology and Chemistry. I then studied A-levels in Biology, Mathematics, and Chemistry, alongside completing an Extended Project Qualification. Now I am a 4th year medical student.

Hi! I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Warwick, one of the top universities in the UK. I’ve always had a strong passion for learning and teaching, especially when it comes to Maths and Physics. I graduated from the International Baccalaureate with a score of 41 out of 45, which is equivalent to AAA at A-Level. I scored 7 out of 7 in Physics HL and 6 out of 7 in Maths AA, which is one of the most challenging maths courses in the IB. Before that, I completed my IGCSEs with A* across all subjects. As a tutor, I focus on creating a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Hi there, my name is George and I developed a real passion for maths a science during my gcse years having not always been the biggest fan previously to this period and have found great fulfilment in developing my skills ever since. I now study physics at the university of Bristol and would not have got here if it wasn’t for some of my excellent teaching mentors so anything I can do to replicate this is an exciting opportunity for me. Having taken my exams so recently where I found some crafty shortcuts and developed easy strategies to assure me I could do well and guarantee me correct answers to certain questions that came up over and over again in previous years exams. All of which I really feel any student can implement to reduce at least some of the stress of these tricky years. I understand the importance of hobbies outside of the school work, with me personally enjoying all sports outside of my studies, particularly football, basketball and running. My GCSE qualifications came out at eight grade 9’s, two grade 8’s and a grade 7, with grade 9’s in my chosen subjects. I have A*’s in maths, physics and chemistry A-levels, taken in the 2023 summer series, so I am very comfortable with the OCR A syllabus for physics and chemistry, and the edexcel syllabus for both A-level and gcse maths.
