Hello! My name is Donna. I have lived and worked in different parts of England, Wales and Scotland at various times. I teach English and Humanities subjects remotely, and have done so for over 5 years; although I have worked within an educational environment for more than 15 years. Throughout this time it has been a real privilege to help students progress and reach their full potential. I personally love learning and reading, and get excited about exchanging new ideas and thoughts with my students. I hold a Bachelors Degree in teaching English Education, with TESOL as my major and Primary School Education as my minor. I am also finalising a BA History with Honours degree as a second degree through The Open University. I have always had a fascination with History, especially ancient history and archaeology. I believe that History is an important subject, as it not only created our past but will also help to define our future too. As a person I love animals, photography and outdoor activities, such as walking and kayaking. I enjoy travelling and have had the opportunity to visit many wonderful places throughout Egypt, Europe, and America. I am a qualified Rescue Scuba diver and have dived in some great areas. Wherever I go, I always try visit local historical sites and see local cultures I hold a Bachelors Degree in teaching English Education from the United States Institute of Language and Clerical Studies. I graduated Cum Laude (Distinction/Honours) with Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages as my Major, and Primary School Education as my Minor. I am also finalising a BA History with Honours degree as a second degree through The Open University. I have always had a fascination with History, especially ancient history and archaeology. I believe that History is an important subject, as it not only created our past but will also help to define our future too. I also have additional certifications in teaching English Grammar. Having worked within an educational environment for more than 15 years, I have taught English and Humanities subjects remotely for over 5 years. Throughout all of this time it has been privilege to help students progress, and obtain improved grades. I have supported KS1 to KS4 students in Humanities subjects; such as Geography and History, as well as Science, and English. Along with this I have assisted and guided students while they prepare for their Functional Skills assessments and exams. Further, I also support ESL students with exam preparation. In the classroom, my goal has always been to inspire students so that they can gain confidence in their subjects. My classes are always fun and engaging. Students learn at different paces and in different ways so often need time to understand what they are learning. Therefore, I patiently use a variety of teaching materials to consolidate concepts, ideas and dates. These are then reinforced through in-class practice. Mini class quizzes identify areas for additional support, and exam preparation help students feel comfortable and better prepared when it comes to taking their all important exams and tests.

I have been a tutor since early 2020, when I started this career choice alongside working in the NHS as a mature student nurse at the University of Sheffield. I later went on to make this my full-time career, and in this time have worked with over 300 students, both long term and short term, of all different ages. I have worked both through agencies, and privately, with most of my students being referred through word of mouth. I work primarily with children in Year 5 and 6 in maths, and also children who are preparing for their Grammar School 11+ exam. However, I cover maths, English and science up to Year 8 level, 11+ exam preparation, English as a second language (for adults and children), and home schooling for primary school children. I am a member of MENSA, and I have achieved this because I work very routinely and am able to break things down into step-by-step techniques. These techniques are passed on through my tutoring, especially in maths, and I have had great feedback and results from this. I am very passionate about my career, as I love to educate others, and I believe it is so important to be a good role model and inspiration to young people, to drive them towards wanting to achieving their goals in life. My background is in healthcare, where I studied at the University of Sheffield (Adult Nursing BMedSci). I have also studied Diagnostic Radiography (BSc) at Sheffield Hallam University. I have an Access to Higher Education certificate in Health Sciences where I gained a qualification which included A-Level standard Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and AS-Level Physics.

Hi, I'm Rafaela, a 19 year old university student who believes learning should be engaging and built on a genuine connection. I grew up in an international school abroad providing me with a diverse range of knowledge on different cultures as well as a broader perspective. At school I was head girl, providing me with leadership qualities as well as experience working with students from a wide range of year groups. When I’m not tutoring or studying, you'll probably find me at the gym with my friends, playing netball, reading a new book or baking something sweet. My hobbies not only bring me joy but they have taught me valuable lessons. For example, I have learnt both in and outside of school that practice does make perfect, and that nothing is impossible but instead sometimes a difficult journey to success. Through netball, I am used to working in a team to achieve an end goal, which is a crucial skill for tutoring to ensure beneficial lessons for both myself and my student. As a tutor, I understand everyone has their own unique way of learning and I love to be the person to help students find their way of learning and gain confidence in their academic ability. I want to be more than merely just a tutor for my students, I want to be someone they can trust, confide in, and see as a friend. I am excited to help students discover their own strengths and achieve their goals! I am currently studying at the University of Manchester, undergoing a undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Portuguese. I am in my second year of a four year course, meaning i will graduate in 2028. Prior to this, i completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma programme for my last two years of school, receiving 36 points overall, with a 6 in higher level English. I also received 10 GCSE's, 6 A's and 4 A*s in 2022, getting A*s in both English Language and English Literature. My experience with tutoring has only ever been specific to English. I have tutored privately for two separate families, for children ranging between 5 - 13 years old. I first started tutoring English in 2020 and have been on and off tutoring for 5 years. Other work i have completed before has also been children specific, babysitting and netball coaching meaning i have lots of experience coaching and working with a large range of age groups.

Hello! My name is Emma, and I am a second-year Accounting and Finance student at Lancaster University. I achieved 9 GCSEs, ranging from 7-9, which allowed me to study Chemistry, Economics and Maths. I also gained an A* in my EPQ, which I completed in year 12, giving me crucial skills that I have carried forward to my degree. I have been tutoring for over a year. During this time, I have helped prepare primary school students for their SATS and gained more confidence with maths in the classroom. I also prepared year 11 and 13 students for their GCSE and A levels by covering content they were unsure of and practising exam techniques. I previously gained experience mentoring GCSE students at my school. I am a student with dyslexia, so I understand the challenges students face in classroom settings. Anyone can be successful, which is why my sessions are student-led, so that they are catered towards each individual's learning style. If you are unsure of this throughout my school career, I have learnt different methods that work for me and would love to pass them on to others so that we can find a technique that works for you. I attended Rugby School, where I completed my GCSEs and A levels, and now I have gone on to study for a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University, where my ambition is to become an ACA Chartered Accountant. Having studied Chemistry, Economics and Maths at A level, I offer tutoring for students up to and including year 11 in Maths and Chemistry and then Economics up to and including year 13 students.

What is Key Stage 1?
Key Stage 1 (KS1) is the name given to Year 1 and Year 2 at primary schools, when pupils are aged between 5 and 7. It sets out which subjects must be taught as part of the national curriculum, which is followed by state schools.
Your child may be tested on what they have learned at the end of KS1. These assessments are known as SATs (which stands for ‘Standardised Assessment Tests’). They are not pass/fail tests but simply provide an indication of your child’s progress. It is not compulsory for schools to take the SATs in KS1.
What are the main subjects studied at Key Stage 1?
The KS1 curriculum is designed to introduce children to the core subjects they will learn throughout their school career.
The subjects are:
Religious Education (RE) is also taught, but parents can choose for their children to opt out of some or all the lessons. Schools usually also teach Personal, Social and Health Dducation (PSHE), citizenship and modern foreign languages.
How is Key Stage 1 assessed?
Children undertake a phonics screening check at the end of Year 1, which evaluates their reading and pronunciation skills.
Schools who do not take the SATs will use their own assessment systems to track the progress children in their school are making.
If your school takes the SATs, the subjects are:
The focus of Key Stage 1
KS1 is where a child begins to develop their skills and understanding in the key subjects taught in the curriculum.
Speaking, reading and writing are considered core skills as mastery of the English language is central to developing an understanding in all subjects.
In KS1 maths, children to begin to understand mathematical language, understand the fundamentals and begin to solve problems by applying this knowledge.
In addition, teaching children about healthy habits and different belief systems can help them become well-rounded individuals who understand the world around them.
How to choose a Key Stage 1 tutor
Children are all different and progress at different rates. Some will need extra support in building core skills or improving confidence, and others may need more of a challenge to keep them engaged. Either way, lessons need to be personalised to meet their individual needs.
It’s also important to choose a tutor with experience in the KS1 curriculum and who understands how important it is to make learning fun.
GoStudent’s tutors are highly qualified and offer an interactive and personalised learning experience. Our online sessions can be scheduled for a time that suits you, and you will receive regular updates on your child’s progress.
Tutoring will give your child a strong foundation in the key concepts will set them up to succeed in learning, not only at KS2 but throughout their school career.
