Hello! My name is Najma and I study History at the University of Birmingham. I studied History, English Lit and Religious Studies at A-Level so I understand the stresses that come with essay-based subjects! Throughout my life, I have been taught by some incredible tutors and I hope that I can not only help you succeed in your exams, but also grow in confidence. Hi! I'm Eve. Levels & Subjects I teach: The subjects I can tutor are English Literature and English Language at a lower and GSCE level, and also History at lower, GSCE, and A-Level. Exam Board experience: Although I have personally sat my exams with the AQA exam board (meaning I have the most experience with their particular content), I am adaptable and can tutor for any exam board necessary! Languages: I am fluent in English. SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) experience: I have yet to gain experience with SEND. Preferred Student Age group: My preferred student ages are GSCE and A-Level, but I am completely happy and able to provide tutoring for all ages! About me: I am a third year History and Philosophy student, who has always loved English, history, and the arts. My degree has made it possible for me to learn more in-depth about my favourite areas of history - particularly the cold war and feminist history - and to continue my passion for English by taking minor classes in Classics. In my GSCES, I received a 7 in both English Lit and English Language, and an 8 in History. At A-Level, I received an A in History. Some of my favourite past-times are reading (both novels and poetry), listening to music, and designing and sewing clothes. My current favourite read is The Odyssey by Homer, and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde - both of which I highly recommend. GCSE: English Literature and Language A Level: English Literature and Language Experience with: Welsh and English schooling system Preferred student age group: Primary level Ever since my parents introduced me to the world of Roald Dahl and Beatrix Potter, my love for English language and literature has exponentially increased. Before moving to London for university, I lived on a farm in Wales with my family - and many cats! Due to babysitting my two younger cousins for the last five years, I have realised that I love to work with children. I am in awe of their ability to view the world from a perspective so different from the regular adult we encounter every day. My favourite book of all time is 'Silence of the Girls' by Pat Barker. This novel is an essential read, not only for women, but also the male population. It illustrates how the current state of affairs within the international sphere replicates modern day phenomena, with violence against women repeatedly being used as a weapon of war. Thus, my interest in gender-based scholarly studies and the international feminist movement is continually growing. Whilst I love to read in my spare time, I also enjoy singing and meeting new people. However, when I am not singing or socialising, I enjoy playing table tennis and badminton with my older brother. Not only this, but I love fashion and keeping up with the latest trends. Whilst I enjoy keeping active, as illustrated by my part-time lifeguarding job throughout secondary school, seeking the greatest bargains in charity shops is something I could not live without. I am easily distracted by stories, both fictional and non-fictional, and I hope I can bring a fresh and compelling perspective to GoStudent! Education: London School of Economics and Political Science I grew up on a farm in the middle of Wales, attending both primary and secondary school in my neighbouring town. After achieving six A*s, one A and one B in my GCSEs, I was very intrigued to discover how A Level education could continue to challenge me. After receiving three As and an A* in my A Levels (the A* being in English literature and language), I decided to go to the London School of Economics and Political Science to study Politics and International Relations. Despite not studying English in university, I have found that the endless essays I was required to produce have undoubtedly contributed to the continuous improvement of my English skills, and my love for English in general. I have completed my first year in university and look forward to returning to see what second year has to offer! Despite currently being in higher education, I am certainly very excited by the prospect of teaching younger children and helping them to discover how English can be fun! Of course, education is about learning and discovering our strengths, and how we can improve in other weaker areas to enable us to be the best possible version of ourselves! However, if we are not enjoying ourselves when learning, this obviously makes education seem less inviting!
